Lucknow: Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Ram Vilas Paswan, on Sunday accepted that rising prices of lentils in the country is a matter of concern and the ministry was working to reduce the prices.

“The consumption of pulses is more than any other grain in our country and we are working to create a buffer stock of 21 lakh ton which would help in curbing this problem,” said Paswan while talking to reporters in Lucknow.

  • Prices of other commodities are in control.
  • Many countries produce lentils just to import in our country.
  • The government is saving 10,000 crores per annum by checking the forged ration cards.
  • People are getting rice and wheat at a very nominal price of Rs 2 per kilogram.
