Lucknow: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone for Outer Ring Road at Jhulelal Park in the capital of Uttar Pradesh on Friday.

Singh was accompanied by Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Member of Parliament (MP) Kaushal Kishore, Lucknow Mayor Dinesh Sharma, Uttar Pradesh (UP) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Keshav Prasad Maurya and Gopal Tandon at the event.

It may be mentioned that ahead of attending the foundation ceremony, the minister visited the prominent Hanuman Sethu Temple in the city to pay obeisance.

“The construction of this road will help bringing the ‘traffic mismanagement’ in the city to an end,” said the Lucknow Mayor.

“The road is to be built at a cost of Rs 5214 crore and likely to be completed within 30 months,” said officials.

Moreover, the 105km long road will include two river bridges, four major bridges as well as 42 minor ones, eight flyovers, 26 vehicular underpasses, two interchanges, 12 footbridges, 28 bus bays and two truck lay byes.
