Post-VIP culture: UP ministers ask to ensure protocol to them

Lucknow: More than the bureaucrats, the ministers and senior politicians are a perturbed lot over bye-bye to Red and Blue beacon lights from the official vehicles. There has suddenly been the high demand for escort vehicles and shadows by the ministers in Uttar Pradesh who , for no reason, are suffering from identity crisis.

So much so that the latest list of Dos and Don'ts sent to all District Magistrates from the government has special mention that the ministers,in charge of the districts, should be given protocol when they happened to visit the district. The circular sent by UP Chief Secretary Rahul Bhatnagar has 13-points directions to the DMs and District SPs which also included the CUG phone of the officers to be picked by them only.

'' Is there any need to reiterate that ministers should be given protocol and cooperated with,'' asks a DM posted in a big district of western UP while speaking to newstrack.com. He says it is not possible to respond to every call on CUG since the phone never stops ringing.

It may be recalled that the CM Yogi Adityanath has announced that all the DMs and SPs will function from their offices instead of camp offices at their respective residences, In addition, they are expected to send their progress reports about implementation of government's agenda on a regular basis.

Also, the UP Chief Secretary was a butt of joke when immediately after the Yogi government was sworn-in, he had sent a circular asking all officials to come to office on time. It was seen as a confession from his side that earlier, he could not ensure this. This time also, his circular has left officials amused specially by the mention of Ministers clause as it should have gone without saying.
