Lucknow: Much hue and cry was raised against nepotism in selection of candidates for Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Speaker after speaker urged Congress party leaders to avoid this practise in the upcoming Vidhan Sabha election in the state.

The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Nirmal Khatri assured party leaders and workers that care will be taken to see that this does not happen again.

He was speaking at a meeting called by new generation political strategist Prashat Kishor in Lucknow on Thursday.

This assurance came in view of protest by a number of speakers over selection of candidates in the past. Political families which could pull the wires were given preference in ticket distribution. The assurance quietened the agitated members.

Chairing meeting with all four wings of congress:

With just a year left for the Vidhan Sabha elections in the state, Prashant is chairing a two-day meeting with frontal organization of the Congress -- Sevadal, Youth Congress, Mahila Congress and National Student Union Of India.

The meeting was attended by senior Congress functionaries like Madhusudan Mistri, Nirmal Khatri and some others.

PK and his pen:

Famous for his backroom operations, Kishor, did not utter even a single word but was writing everything in his notebook.
