MLC Polls: Peaceful voting under way on all seats

Lucknow: Peaceful voting is underway for the Members of Legislative Council (MLC) polls in 28 seats of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

The voting started at 0800 hours and will continue till 1700 hours.

Elections:

• The polling is underway on 28 seats of Uttar Pradesh.
• More than one lakh voters will exercise their franchise.
• Unopposed elections were held on eight seats on February 18 last.
• 97 candidates on contesting for the MLC polls on 28 seats.
• Adequate security arrangements have been made for the elections

Mafia Brijesh Singh shifted to Saharanpur jail:

• Mafia don- Brijesh Singh, who is contesting the election from Varanasi-Bhadohi seat, has been shifted to Sharanpur jail.
• He was shifted on the orders of Home Ministry.
