Lucknow: The dream project of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is soon going to turn into reality. The first four coaches of metro have reached the Transport Nagar Metro Depot with preparations underway and meanwhile, Lucknow Metro Railway Corporation (LMRC) is planning to launch its smart cards which will allow cashless travels to passengers. The cards will be interlinked with 26 services of public usage.

“If everything goes well, people can get smart cards from Januray 1,” said LMRC source.

“In first phase, about 50 thousand smart cards will come for the distribution,” said an LMRC officer.

The cards will be used for the automatic fair collection. Along with the cashless travels of metro, people can even use the card for the payment of city bus service and parking fees. About 26 public utility services will also be interlinked via smart card.

The Metro Go Green card will be easy to handle and will have historic Rumi Darwaza printed on it.

LMRC is making every possible effort to install smart card recharge machines at stations before Holi. There are also plans of installing two-ticket vending machines at Metro stations.

“The four coaches of Metro will be tested on a 630-metre-long track. UP CM Akhilesh Yadav will flag-off the trial of Metro on December 1,” said LMRC MD Kumar Keshav.
