Lucknow: Woman gangraped by three men in KGMU hospital

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh police on Thursday booked two security guards and a liftman for alleged gangrape of a woman in Shatabdi Hospital of King George's Medical University (KGMU) here.

The police has arrested the private security guards while the liftman is still absconding. KGMU has also blacklisted both the agencies the alleged rapists belonged to.

According to the police, the 38-year-old woman, along with her husband (the patient), had come to the hospital from Hardoi on Wednesday. Due to the absence of the doctor they came to see, the couple decided to spend the night at the first floor verandah of the phase I building.

Accused security guard, Shiv Kumar, had a conversation with the couple at 10 pm on Wednesday. After around half an hour, he came back offering food to them in the hospital canteen. Asking the woman to follow him, Kumar led her to the fourth floor in an elevator and into the machine room, where his friends, liftman Vinay and the other security guard Santosh, were already waiting.

The victim's husband in the complaint alleges that Kumar gagged her and the three men raped her one by one. After they freed the woman, who was in immense pain, she narrated the brutality against her to her husband. Barely mobile due to his ailment, the man said they would file a police complaint in the morning.

The miscreants returned at around midnight to threaten the couple against filing a police complaint. They also offered them Rs 25,000 in cash readily but the couple refused to accept. The alleged rapists, out of immense anger, threw the couple out of the hospital.
