Lucknow: A state-wide high alert has been sounded in Uttar Pradesh following killing of ISIS terrorist Saifullah in the state capital and more discerning being the latest intelligence input about the presence of a terror module in the vicinity of Lucknow and Kanpur.

Saifullah was gunned down after 11-hour armed encounter with Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) of UP in Thakurganj area of Lucknow in the early hours on Wednesday. The ISIS (Khorasan) module was set up with an aim to create havoc in the entire Northern India, the ATS sources said.

In the first photographic evidences of Khorasan module , available with newstrack.com, and the apprehensions expressed by ATS officials clearly suggest that the danger still hovers around in the state as about six terrorists including the head of the group GM Khan, part of ISIS module, are roaming in Uttar Pradesh. ''This is the first instance when the physical presence of ISIS came to the fore in Uttar Pradesh,'' a senior UP police official admitted.

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) team already reached Lucknow, inspected the encounter site and issued necessary directions to investigate it further. The probe teams are trying to link a thread of terror from train bomb explosion in Shujapur in Madhya Pradesh to latest input about the Khorasan module.

A manhunt had already been launched to nab other suspects who mainly hailed from Kanpur, Aligarh and Etawah in UP.

Earlier, after 11-hour intense gun-battle ended about 2.45 am, the 23-year-old militant Saifullah, the suspected ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) terrorist was killed, said the IG ATS Aseem Arun. The ATS commandos recovered the dead body as they broke into a house in Haji Ali colony under Kakori police station area where ISIS literature, 650 cartridges, raw material for bombs, detonators, eight pistols and several mobile phones were found.

As per preliminary probe, the module has nefarious designs to disturb the tranquility in the state by targeting the railways and some big leaders.
