Lucknow: The wait is over for Lucknowiites as monsoon currents quietly entered the state of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday last and the city can expect its first monsoon shower on Friday.
According to the MeT department the currents have entered the state through Sonabhadra and the state's capital can experience the shower on Thursday-Friday.Met director JP Gupta, however, stated that the weather will remain sultry with minimum temperatures of 29.2 and maximum of 39 degree celsius.

The MeT director also said, "A low-pressure area is developing over the Bay of Bengal which will push monsoon further into the state on Thursday. It is expected to cover entire UP by Friday."
It is worth mentioning that though, the normal date of monsoon arrival in UP is June 15 and in Lucknow it is June 18 but this year, it is late by 12 days as of now.
The record of the past 10 years shows that its arrival in the city has been late by 5-15 days.
