Lucknow: Cathedral School student commits suicide over insult

Lucknow: A class 12th student of Cathedral School in Hazratganj, Lucknow committed suicide by shooting himself on temple on Saturday.

The 18-year-old boy, who belonged to Keshav Nagar area of Madiyaon, was rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

According to the sources, student Lalit Yadav took the extreme step with his father's licensed revolver, because of being rebuked publically by the school's principle.

The mother of the dead student has blamed school's Father of torturing him and has also sought for action against him.

According to the reports, Lalit mistakenly had rammed into a girl student's bicycle with his motorbike on Saturday for which the school's principle had reprimanded him in front of the entire class.

  • Lalit's mother Shiva Devi said that he was a student in Cathedral Senior Secondary School.
  • His father Amarnath Yadav is the Steno of Superintendent of Police (SP) Lakhimpur.
  • Shiva Devi lived in Keshav Nagar with her two sons, Lalit and Sumit.
  • The tyre of girl student's bicycle got skewed in the collision and she also sustained minor injuries.
  • The sources said, Lalit had given her Rs 150 for repairing of her bicycle.
  • But the girl complained about the incident to school's Father.
  • Subsequently, school administration seized the boy's motorcycle and mobile phone.
  • Later, School's principle informed about the whole episode to Lalit's father.
  • His mother went to school to bring him back home.
  • After reaching home, Lalit shot himself on his temple.
  • Hearing the gun shot, Shiva Devi rushed to her son’s room where she found him dying.
  • She immediately took him to the Trauma Centre where he was declared dead.
  • Police has started investigating the matter.

On being contacted over the incident, Cathedral School' Father Mavlin refused to say anything.
