Loreto girls carry out plantation drive in Lucknow

Lucknow: In an effort to increase city's green cover, girl students of Loreto Convent Intermediate College on Wednesday undertook a plantation drive as part of the Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation club.

They begin their drive from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University where girl students participated in the plantation of saplings, in order to create awareness in children about the importance of plants.

Loreto's teacher Namita Tripathi, who was joined by several students, said girls are enthusiastic about the noble cause.

Rain, however, tried to halt the programme. But, showers failed to stop the spirited girl students from plantation.

Namita said that they have to plant around 1 lakh saplings in different localities.

This campaign is to be completed in eight steps. The first phase started from Wednesday in which about 7000 saplings are to be planted in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University campus.

Girl students were applauded by RC Sobti, BABU's Vice Chancellor and Loreto school Principal Sister Anjum for their effort to protect environment by planting trees.
