Loot at Aam Mahotsav: Mango festival ends on a sour note

Lucknow: The two-day long annual mango bonanza—Aam Mahotsav, ended up on a sour note with loot on Sunday. The mango stalls at the Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow, were looted by public in its concluding session while the fest was in its peak and some of the

mango stall owner had started packing.

A stampede like situation occurred when some some visitors barged into the exhibition area and walked away with the mangoes on display, Arun, a visitor told newztrack.com. Adding, the event was poorly managed and no officer of the district administration was there to monitor the situation. The free-for-all lasted for about 20 minutes and was controlled only after police intervention. The district administration, however, has denied of loot saying it was a mango eating competition.
