Lucknow: STF arrests 3 for running illegal Railway ticket booking racket

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh's Special Task Force (STF) arrested three men here on Saturday for running an illegal Railway ticket booking racket in the state capital.

According to the media reports, the three arrested men were using an illegal software which could book a confirmed tatkal railway ticket in just 30 seconds.

The STF sources revealed that this network is spread across several states of the country, so they are expecting more arrests in the coming days.

The illegal software was functioning in the similar manner like Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website, which is used for booking tickets online.

The STF sources also commented that the cyber criminals had developed a software that was working quicker than the IRCTC website. It used to become functional once Indian Railways opened ticket booking of any of the trains across the country.

The software also broke through the “captcha” protection of IRCTC website.

The sources also claimed that the STF is also investigating the suspected collusion of Railway employees in the scam.

It is to tell you that these agents used to charge Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 on per ticket booking.
