Lucknow: In a shocking incident, a 25-year old student of the Indian Institute of Management-Lucknow (IIML) allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday.

Police found Soham Mukherjee, a second year student of post graduate programme hanged from the ceiling fan of his hostel in the campus in Madiyaon.

Though, room was locked from inside, it was evident for police that it is a suicide. But, they did not find any note from the site.

Soham Mukherjee, who hails from Kolkata, was an engineering graduate from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati. He was employed in multi-national firm for a couple of years before taking admission in the IIM, Lucknow last year.

Police said that that laptop and mobile phones found from his room are seized and they are looking for more details.

If initial probe is to be believed then the student was under depression, owing to which he had not attended his classes since November 12,

He did not pick any call since the morning of November 15, said police. Soham's parents have been informed about the accident.

The IIM administration expressed grief on the student's death, saying, “Soham was a consistently well performing student at IIM Lucknow. It seems to be a case of suicide, more details are awaited as the matter is under investigation by the police.”
