Lucknow: The Lucknow chapter of FICCI Ladies Organisation organises an interactive session, Chai pe Charcha : Buland Hauslon Ki Udaan, a conversation with young women of Team Lakshya on February 5, 2021.
FICCI FLO:
This event was part of a series of talks organized by FLO Lucknow with the explicit objective of highlighting stories of extraordinary courage and vision displayed by ordinary women of Uttar Pradesh.
This session uncovered a story about unparalleled grit and determination displayed by the young adolescent girls of a place close to Lucknow called Kudamau. This is a story of the journey of these girls as they worked tirelessly to transform not only their own lives but the lives of people in their community.
Shakespeare said, "What's in a name?" These girls from Taron ki Toli, disagreed. These girls weree embarrassedof the name Kudagau, and they loathed the idea of their place of residence being addressed as such. Therefore, these adolescents from a small village from a rural block of Lucknow initiated a movement to change the name of their village. As the universe ordained, soon these girls had the support of the local stakeholders and beaurocrats and this took on the momentum of a social movement.
Today, due to the diligent efforts of these girls, Kudagaon is now known as Sundernagar.
This session saw 5 of these girls uncover their transformative journeys.
Chai pe Charcha:
The event was ably moderated by Sachi Singh, the event chair and member of FLO Lucknow, and was attended by members of FLO all across India. The event had the esteemed presence of important dihnitaries and guests like the heads from various NGOs and corporate bodies like UNICEF and Waterside etc. It was also aired live on Facebook.
