Lucknow: The Election Commission has deferred the High-school and Intermediate Examination dates released by the Uttar Pradesh Board. The EC has also summoned the secondary education department authorities along with the officials taking care of the UP assembly elections on Friday.

According to the official sources, “The Election Commission took this step to avoid any inconvenience as the state assembly elections are also due in February and March.”

The officials said that the dates released by the board fall in between February 18 and March 21. “The state is bound to have polls in these months and to avoid any inconvenience to students and authorities both, the decision has been taken,” they stated.

The officials said, “The EC has decided to hold a meeting with the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer and Chief Secretary of state’s Secondary Education.”

The meeting would be held in New Delhi to discuss the next possible dates for the examinations.
