Lucknow: The impact of ‘odd even’ traffic policy introduced by the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is yet to be assessed. It may or may not drastically reduce the level of pollution but for the auto-mobile dealers it is a balle-balle. For them ‘acche din’ have arrive.

The implementation of this scheme in Delhi has resulted in increase of the sale of used or second hand cars not just in Delhi but also in Uttar Pradesh. Now owners of the old cars are demanding higher prices for their cars.

The ‘even’ effect

  • People with odd numbers are looking for cars with even number and vice-versa.
  • The prices of second hand cars have gone up by 100 per cent to 200 per cent, claims Rajdendra Singh Bagga, the owner of ‘Second Hand Drives’, in Lucknow.
  • Prices fetched by the old cars are much more than in the past.

The ‘odd’ effect:

  • People are not selling their cars to automobile dealers.
  • They are opting for online portals like OLX, Sulekha and Quikkr.
  • Sometimes people demand money for old car which is much more than the value for their car, says Bagga.

Highest demands:

Rajinder further says that, the demand for economical cars especially the Maruti Suzuki’s Zen and Alto 800 with CNG kits is the highest.

  • Some customers even offer to exchange their cars which are now outdated in the market.
  • People are ready to pay any price for the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) kit installed cars.
