Woman gang-raped on NH-24 highway in Bareilly; SO suspended

Bareilly: Barely two days are passed since infamous Bulandshahr rape case, another highway gang rape was committed in a district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, making a mockery of the law and order machinery in the state.

According to police sources, three unidentified men way laid a lady teacher on National Highway-24 and raped her in a nearby field. Reaching the heights of brutality, the miscreants captured the scene on camera and ran away leaving her in a state of shock.

The incident occurred on Lucknow-Delhi highway under CB Ganj police station area.

SO Suspended:

  • IG Zone (Bareilly) Vijay Singh has suspended CB Ganj police Inspector Rajesh Singh
  • Sources say that few more officers may soon come under the scanner for negligence

It may be recalled that after the Bulandshahr gang-rape, in which a woman and her minor daughter were dragged out of their car and raped by a group of men, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had instructed the police officials to take necessary steps to ensure strengthening of highway patrolling.
