Lucknow: In order to stem the rot in the ruling Samajwadi Party fold, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday came out with a passionate appeal to his party men to do away with protests and resignations.

''The assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are round the corner and you all should be seen in the constituencies to spread the development message of the government,'' he said.

Reiterating that the SP was going to form government in the state sgain, he asked the office bearers and the workers of the party to respect the decision of the SP President Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The statement of Akhilesh came in the wake of marching orders to some of the party leaders, close to him, by the newly appointed state Sp President Shivpal Singh Yadav followed by a series of resignations by many , mostly the youth leaders.
