Aprajita, a Lucknow girl has made a history in Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections by winning the position of Secretary by highest margin ever.

Lucknow: Aprajita, a Lucknow girl has made a history in Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections by winning the position of Secretary by highest margin ever. Aprajita was an ABVP candidate and she defeated NSUI's Yakshana Sharma by a record margin of 12,937 votes.

Aprajita obtained her BA (Honours) degree in History from Dayal Singh College, Delhi University, and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Buddhist Studies. For Aprajita and her family, who come from a middle-class background, winning the elections and securing the position of Secretary in the Delhi University Students Union was a dream come true. Aprajita defeated NSUI's Yakshana Sharma by an impressive margin of 12,937 votes, making history by winning the Secretary post with the highest margin. Apart from Aprajita winning the Secretary post, ABVP’s TusharDedha won the post of President defeating NSUI’s Hitesh Gulia by a margin of 3115 votes and the position of Joint Secretary has been won by Sachin Baisla. The post of Vice President has been won by NSUI candidate Abhi Dahiya.

Aprajita is a member of ABVP and daughter of Late Vivek Kushwaha and Sapna Singh. She hails from Lucknow and completed her school education there. Her father was a businessman in Jaunpur, which fostered Aprajita's strong connection with the Purvanchal region of the state. Aprajita comes from a family with a political background, with most of her relatives based in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh. Her grandfather, Rajendra Pal Singh, and uncles, Sanjay Singh and Late ShashiPratap Singh, had won various local elections.
