Lohia Institute performs successful live kidney transplant

Lucknow: Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) on Wednesday underwent its first live kidney transplant surgery, making it the third such facility in Lucknow apart from SGPGI and KGMU.

Wife of Barabanki resident Shivbahadur donated her kidney to husband, who is being treated at the Lohia Hospital from past eight months.

The successful surgery was conducted by Dr Abhilash Chandra (Nephrologist) and Dr Ishwar Dayal (Urologist), Dr Anish Srivastava (Urologist) and Dr Sanjeet (Urologist) under the guidance of Dr Alok Srivastava (Urologist).

The condition of husband and wife is said to be stable.
