Legal Aid Centre conducts workshop on PoSH & Cyber Awareness

Lucknow: Legal Aid Centre at Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow in collaboration with DLSA (District Legal Services Authority) and under the guidance of Dr.(Prof.)C.P Singh, Head & Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow, and Dr.Ashish Srivastava, Chairman, Legal Aid Centre,University of Lucknow, Lucknow conducted a workshop on PoSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) & Cyber Awareness on wednesday at New Vision School, Atal Chowk Sector 4, Jankipuram Extension, Lucknow- 226031.

Workshop on Cyber Awareness:

Shri. Gaurav Sethi, Principal of New Vision School welcomed all members of Legal Aid Centre. The aim of the members of Legal Aid Centre was to create awareness among the students, teachers and the staff about sexual harassment of women at workplace( Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

The workshop began with the Kulgeet of University of Lucknow and informing the students about Legal Aid Centre, Lucknow and by informing about there previous work. Harsh Anand Shukla, member of Legal Aid Centre started the workshop by explaining the horrifying case of Bhanwari Devi that how she was sexually assaulted,brutally raped and explained the Visakha Guidelines 1997 he also informed the students and the staff about what are the elements that constitute sexual harassment, sexual harassment at workplace, who will be called as aggrieved woman.

What the workplace is, then he elaborate about Prevention and Prohibition on sexual harassment then the workshop is followed by other member Zeeshan explaining the remedies which can be taken by the aggrieved women if she faces sexual harassment and about the duties of employer to create a safe working environment for its employees.

He explained the importance of formation of ICC (Internal Complaints Committee) and LCC (Local Complaints Committee) and why it is mandatory for every employer to provide a grievance redressal system for the employees at their workplace, he also informed the attendees about Cyber Awareness and Cyebr Crimes, he explained the case of Boys Locker Room and made students aware of being alert while using social media/ social sites the other member of Legal Aid Centre, Shubhanjali highlighted the importance of being aware of Cyber Crime, Cyber Assault and what the cyber sexual harassment is, she also explained the remedies for the same and how to get them.

Then Puneet Deshwal, senior member of Legal Aid Centre emphasized about Cyber Awareness and told the audience to beware about Cyber crime in various forms and adviced attendees to be alert while using the social sites. He concluded the workshop by asking the students and the staff for any query regarding workshop ,he addressed the queries and ask everyone to stand up to recite the Preamble. The workshop ended with everyone singing the national song Vande Mataram.
