UP police arrests three for running a betting racket in Kanpur

Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday arrested three for allegedly running a betting racket here. The three suspects were found in the same hotel where teams of Gujarat Lions and Delhi Daredevils were staying.

The arrest came a day after Gujarat and Mumbai clash in the Indian Premier League match at Green Park here.

The anti-corruption unit of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) helped the Uttar Pradesh Police bust an illegal betting racket in Kanpur.

"The Anti Corruption Unit (ACU) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been tracking activities of certain individuals, as a result of which, three suspects were arrested in Kanpur, on Thursday," the BCCI said in a statement.

"This was an outcome of the ACU of the BCCI, having worked closely with various law enforcement agencies, who will continue further investigations, in this matter," the statement added.
