Debt ridden farmer commits suicide in Mainpuri

Mainpuri: A debt ridden young farmer on Friday committed suicide in Uttar Pradesh district of Mainpuri, the pocket borough of Samajwadi President Mulayam Singh Yadav's family, presently represented by his grandson Tej Pratap Yadav.

Umesh chand (27), a native of Kishni block, ended his life by consuming poison as he had low yield, not enough to manage two meals and repay debt. The suicide of the farmer sent the district administration in a tizzy as the constituency was represented by Mulayam several times in the past.

Loan worth Rs 50,000

Umesh was depressed and shocked with the loss of his crops and was worried to pay the loan worth Rs 50,000, said his father Ramsewak.

Official version

Mainpuri’s district magistrate Lokeh M said that administration was looking into the matter and will do the needful once report comes.
