Major mishap averted, Shatabdi Express splits into two

Kanpur: A major accident was averted when New Delhi-bound 2033 Shatabdi Express train was divided into two as the coupling joining two bogies gave away at Rura station in Kanpur Dehat in Uttar Pradesh on Monday morning.

It came to notice later when the engine and two coaches C1 and C2 was separated from rest of the train which remained stranded at outer signal of Rura at about 0635 hrs, the railway sources said.

Panic spread among the railways staff following this and the senior officers reached the spot. It took about 45 minutes to rejoin the train with the engine before it departed for the destination. The probe had been initiated, sources added.
