Allahabad/Mahoba: Ankit Goyal, the junior civil judge of Kulpahar in Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh, has been suspended.

The decision to suspend him was taken by the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, on Saturday.

Goyal made news headlines after he took duo moto cognisance of Mulayam Singh Yadav's remark on rape in August last year.

The Samajwadi Party chief had said that one person commits rape and four persons are named as accused. "Can four persons rape a woman," he had asked and said it was impractical.

  • The SP chief was summoned under section 190 (1C) of the Criminal Procedure Court.
  • Mulayam was asked to appear in the court on September 16, 2015.
  • The order was later quashed by the Allahabad High Court (pl check).

Ankit Goyal's version:

"I am a judicial officer and there are some guidelines which I follow. I have not received any suspension letter so 'No Comments', "said Goyal while talking to Newztrack.com.

Issued warrant against Arun Jaitley:

  • Taking suo moto cognizance he issued a warrant against Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in October last.
  • The warrant was issued against him for criticizing the order of Supreme Court.
  • Jaitley’s article was on the selection of judges by the National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC).
  • Ordered Jaitley to appear in the court on November 19 last.
  • This order was also quashed by the High Court.
