IAS Anurag Tiwari Death Case: Three cops suspended for negligence

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh police officials were suspended on Monday for showing negligence to their duty in regard to the death of IAS officer Anurag Tiwari.

It has been alleged that the Dial 100 police showed no haste in reaching to the body. A man had informed about the body to the police control room at 5.33 am and a local police official had reached the spot by 5.50 am. But it took more than an hour (at 6.36 am) to UP 100 PRV 467 to reach there.

After an internal probe, head constable Harishankar, constables Ashwin Kumar Shukla and Lalman were found guilty of showing negligence, and were subsequently suspended by SSP.

Earlier, the forensic report claimed that the injuries on the body of 2007-batch Indian Administrative Service officer clearly suggested that he did not die because of an accident but was assaulted to death.

The postmortem report later verified brutal assault on Anurag Tiwari.

The IAS officer was traced dead under mysterious circumstances on the roadside near the state guest house in state capital's posh Hazratganj area on his birth anniversary on May 17.

Anurag was posted as Commissioner, Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in Bengaluru. Reportedly, he was being opposed by his seniors over tender allotment issue.
