Bahraich Flood

Bahraich: Over 70 houses have collapsed, including one of Uttar Pradesh minister Banshidhar Baudh, due to incessant and heavy rains in the Bahraich town.

Banshidhar Baudh, who is known for living an extremely simple life, has asked the Lekhpal of the area to estimate the loss in the region. Baudh, a Samajwadi Party MLA from Balha constituency in Bahraich, is one of the rare ministers across the country, who dwells in a hut with his family, ditching the VIP culture.

Baudh has appealed the UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to release compensatory amount for the loss of hundreds of people due to the natural calamity.

Bahraich is observing heavy downpour resulting into a steep rise in the water levels of Saryu and Ghaghra rivers causing a flood like situation in the area. The entire Terai region is worst-affected especially after water released from Nepal.
