Allahabad: The Allahabad high Court on Monday asked the newly formed Uttar Pradesh government about its plans for swiftly finishing the criminal trials against the former as well as present MPs and MLAs of the state.

An Allahabad HC bench comprising Justice DB Bhosale and Justice Yashwant Verma, reacting over a criminal PIL, ordered Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government to clarify its intent before the court over the same within next two week.

The next hearing over the PIL, filed by Ashutosh Gupta, has been scheduled two weeks later.

The court has delivered the order to ascertain that the state government follows the Supreme Court directive that all the pending criminal trials against the former and current parliamentarians and legislators are finished within the set deadline.

The court questioned the additional government advocate that why the government does not form an official committee which could ensure that the criminal trials against the honourables are finished expeditiously.
