Bijnor (Uttar Pradesh): A woman on Tuesday alleged that a Government Railway Police (GRP) constable raped her inside a moving train, said the officials.

The official has been arrested for allegedly raping the woman, who belongs to Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. She had boarded the Lucknow-Chandigarh Express from Chandpur railway station.

The accused personnel, who was present in the same compartment, took the woman to an empty coach after she fell ill, where he allegedly raped her on gunpoint.

After coming across the incident, enraged people at the Bijnor railway station attacked on the GRP personnel. He could escape from the public only after reaching into the GRP office at the station.

Telling about the development in the case, Railway police post in-charge Ravi Mohan Sharma said the accused had been arrested on the complaint of the woman and probe had also been launched.

The accused personnel, however, has claimed that he is innocent and has been trapped in a false case. He claimed that he was only trying to help the woman passenger after she fell ill.
