Girl sets herself ablaze as boyfriend watches on the video call

In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun district, a 9th standard girl died after setting herself ablaze after her boyfriend allegedly pretended to consume poison telling her that he was ending his life as his family would never allow him to marry her.

"My family will not allow us to meet… and I would not get marry with anyone else except you. So it is better that we commit suicide. I am consuming poison in front of you. Now you too give up your life… The girl student who burns herself before dying, she told this to her mother, what the boy spoke to her on video call.

Although the boy told her that he was going to consume poison, reports said that he only pretended that he was doing so and had in fact showed the girl some powder claiming that it was poison.

Apparently believing him the girl set herself ablaze while the boy watched her on the video call. She told everything to her mother before succumbing to her injuries.

The mother said that the girl poured kerosene oil over herself and set herself ablaze. She suffered serious burn injuries and subsequently died. The girl’s family alleged that the boy pressured her to commit suicide. The girl was dead on 7th June during the treatment in Gwalior.

After the investigation police was found that they used to talk a lot on phone. They talked more than 250 times in 2 months.

ASP Aseem Chaudhary said that they have filed a case against the boy identified as Nikki. He admitted to pretending to eat poison.
