Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police has sent a legal notice to the MD of Twitter India. This notice has been sent to Twitter India for "spreading communal unrest" in connection with the recent attack on a Muslim man in Ghaziabad.

The UP Police has sent this notice to Manish Maheshwari, the Managing Director of Twitter in India. Also, he has been called to Loni police station to record his statement within a week of receiving the letter.

It is being told that the UP Police is in a strict mood in the matter.

Ghaziabad Police slaps legal notice to Twitter:

In the notice issued to Maheshwari, MD, Twitter India, it has been told that a case has been registered against Twitter India in Loni police station under several sections.

Through Twitter, some people have used their Twitter handle to spread hatred in the society and no cognizance was taken by Twitter in this matter.

The UP Police's FIR said, "The uploaders of the video did not verify the veracity of the matter and shared it online by giving it a communal aspect with the intention of disrupting public peace and dividing the religious groups."

In addition, Twitter Inc and Twitter Communications India also did not take any steps to remove these tweets.

Ghaziabad Assault Video Case:

In a video clip that surfaced on social media on June 14, Abdul Samad Saifi, an elderly Muslim man, alleged that some youths thrashed him and asked him to chant 'Jai Shri Ram', but the Ghaziabad police found no communal motive behind the incident.

Denied being the reason and said that the accused were unhappy with the amulet that Saifi sold them. Police have arrested three people for attacking Saifi.

Ghaziabad (Rural) Superintendent of Police Iras Raja said on Wednesday that Kallu Gurjar, Pravesh Gurjar and Adil have been arrested for beating Saifi.

He said that the police are also looking for four other people - Poli, Himanshu, Arif and Murshid.
