Enraged mob sets vehicle carrying beef afire in Uttar Pradesh

Saharanpur: A vehicle allegedly carrying beef was on Tuesday torched by an enraged group of people in Rampur Maniharan town of Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district.

“The mob went violent after intercepting a pick-up vehicle allegedly carrying beef,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjay Singh.

Subsequently, the police had to launch a lathicharge (baton charge) to disperse the crowd. “A beef smuggling case was registered against the suspects and the further investigation was underway,” added the SP.
