Gorakhpur, July 4 - Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that the double-engine government at the national and state levels, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is committed to providing better healthcare facilities to the common people, the poor, and the weaker sections. It is the result of this sensitivity that every district in the state is now connected to a medical college. Along with the government's efforts in the field of healthcare services, the participation of the private sector is also crucial.

CM Yogi made these remarks on Tuesday during the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed New Anandlok Hospital near the Chhatrasangh Chowk in Gorakhpur. After inaugurating the hospital, he stated that the field of healthcare is an extensive area, and success cannot be achieved solely by relying on the government. The participation of the private sector is also necessary. He mentioned that nine years ago, it was difficult for an individual sitting at the bottom rung of society to receive treatment in a private or corporate hospital. However, through the Ayushman Bharat scheme initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, even the poorest individuals can avail treatment in government hospitals, medical colleges, as well as private and corporate hospitals. He informed that around 50 crore needy people in the country are benefiting from the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

The Chief Minister said that everyone is aware of the condition of healthcare services in eastern Uttar Pradesh six years ago. Even the only BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur was struggling. Today, due to the government's sensitivity, BRD Medical College is offering super-specialty services, and an AIIMS has also been established in Gorakhpur. Several hospitals in the private sector have also come forward to provide excellent healthcare services.

"Medical colleges will be established in every district"

CM Yogi stated that the government has taken steps towards establishing medical colleges in every district. Looking at Eastern Uttar Pradesh alone, medical colleges have been established in Deoria, Siddharthnagar, and Basti. Construction is underway for a medical college in Kushinagar. The process of establishing a medical college on the PPP model has started in Maharajganj. He mentioned that from 1947 to 2017, there were only 12 government medical colleges in the state. Between 2017 and 2022-23, construction of 59 new medical colleges has either been completed or is ongoing. In the remaining 16 districts, the establishment of medical colleges on the PPP model is underway in four districts. The plans for six other districts have also progressed significantly.

The Chief Minister said that the government's commitment is towards the common people and the poor. In any civilized society, it is essential to have a conducive environment for education, healthcare, and security. Expressing his happiness about New Anandlok Hospital being empaneled under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, he stated that its benefits will reach every needy individual. He congratulated Dr. Anand Agrawal and Dr. Alpana Agrawal, the directors of the hospital, for its inauguration. The occasion was attended by Member of Parliament Ravikishan Shukla, Mayor Dr. Manglesh Srivastava, MLA Vipin Singh, and District Magistrate Dr. Dharmendra Singh, along with several doctors and respected citizens.
