BJP Councillor thrashes cop in hotel; arrested

Lucknow: In a shocking incident, Bharatiya Janata Party councillor, Manish Kumar, has been arrested after he thrashed a Sub-Inspector, Sukhpal Panwar, in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh.

The incident took place in the 'Black Pepper Hotel' of the district where SI had come to have dinner with a lady lawyer.

It is said that the lawyer had got into an argument with a waiter over delay in serving of food.

• The hotel owner Manish , who is a sitting BJP Municipal councillor, arrived in the meantime. Both lady and the owner abused each other.
• When the SI intervened , the owner thrashed,slapped him and pulled him down .
• The local police got the information and reached immediately .
• One FIR has been registered against the owner under sections 395, 354 IPC , on the complaint of that lady.

It is to be mentioned that the SI was also found to be guilty of dereliction of duty , as he was away from his Chowki area at a time when the whole district police was busy in Ravan Dahan duties. Therefore, he has been relieved to the police line.
