SHAME! Azam takes on Indian Army, sparks controversy

Rampur: Firebrand Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan on Sunday claimed that all the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates will lose their deposits in Varanasi in the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Talking to the media persons here, the UP cabinet minister said, "PM Modi, along with all his top cabinet ministers, has been in Varanasi since past few days. It seems like the Indian capital has been shifted from New Delhi to Varanasi," adding, "His efforts to convince the electorate to vote for BJP will go in vain and none of his candidates in the district will be able to save his deposit."

He also took a dig at the PM's Varanasi road show saying every nook and corner of the city was manned by police personnel and it had become impossible for the media persons to capture them in one frame.

Slamming BJP for promising to form an 'anti-Romeo squad' if came to power in UP, Azam said, "Romeo of Shakespeare's famous play 'Romeo and Juliet' did not run away with his lady love, unlike Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi."

He also jibed at PM Modi's remark ‘UP government ke kaam nahi karnaame bolte hain', saying, "The Prime Minister should buy an Oxford dictionary to know the actual meaning of 'Karnaame'. Let me help him – karnaame means describing the achievements."

What else Azam Khan said?

  • We do not use bad words for anyone as Islam does not allow us to do so.
  • We have never said a single bad word about Lord Rama, as he might be a 'Paigambar' or might be not.
  • Islam says every good person born across the globe can be a ‘Paigambar’.
  • So we can never use a single bad word about Lord Rama.
