Lucknow, Moving rapidly towards eradication of covid-19 global pandemic, the state of Uttar Pradesh on Monday achieved a major landmark in vaccination with administering more than 11 crore doses so far.

UP crosses landmark 11-crore doses

As Uttar Pradesh continues to intensify its vaccination drive with the aim of vaccinating its entire eligible population soon, the state has so far provided the 'protective shield' to over 11,04,51,442 people.

The state took a giant leap in its vaccination drive by administering over one crore vaccine doses in the span of even less than ten days. UP is administering Covid-19 vaccines faster than some leading states of India and even some nations of the world.

On September 27, Uttar Pradesh also became the first and only state to administer over 38 lakh doses, making it the highest ever single-day vaccine coverage by any state so far.

In another achievement, the most populous state has also achieved the milestone of administering the first dose of the covid-19 vaccine to over 60 percent of the eligible adult population. Over 8,82,91,495 people have received the first dose of the vaccine so far.

Despite challenges in terms of a large population and sizable rural population, Uttar Pradesh has proactively worked towards its endeavour of providing free vaccination to all eligible beneficiaries, to which the rising monthly vaccination coverage of the state is testimony.

As per official estimates based on census and electoral data, around 15 crore people in UP are to be vaccinated. Of these, over 8.82 crore have received at least one dose which is about 60 percent of the eligible population. While over 2.21 crore people are fully vaccinated in the State. More than 2,21,59,947 people have received both the doses of the vaccine so far.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attributed the state's achievement to the dedicated efforts of the health workers, frontline workers, ASHAs, Anganwadi workrs, women's Self Help Groups (SHGs) and even to the citizens of the state.

On the contrary, Maharashtra lags behind with 8.39 crore doses so far. The vaccination numbers in Rajasthan stand at 5.67 crore, West Bengal has given nearly 5.9 crore doses so far, in Tamil Nadu only 4.92 crore vaccine doses have been given and Kerala has given only 3.60 crore doses so far.

Active and Fresh Cases decline to zero in 30 Districts

The UP government has left no stone unturned to minimise the devastating impact of the novel coronavirus, as a result of which the positivity rate has slumped to even lower than 0.01 per cent, the lowest in the country.

In the same period, another 17 patients also recovered from the infection. The Active Caseload in the most populous state has been reduced to 158 from a high of 3,10,783 in April pushing the Recovery Rate up to a remarkable 98.8 percent.
