New Delhi: Air Vice Marshal Rajiv Dayal Mathur has been promoted to the rank of Air Marshal from February 15, an official communique said.

Commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force in June 1982, Mathur has over 5000 hours of flying experience in a variety of operational and training roles. Air Marshall R.D. Mathur had earlier been Assistant Chief of air staff in charge of the IAF Air Warfare strategy cell besides its space, cyber, air traffic services and media and public relations directorates. He has also served as Air Defence Commander at HQ Eastern Air Command and commanded a front line air force station and a Fighter aircraft squadron.

He was awarded Vishisht Sewa Medal in 2003 and Ati Vishisht Sewa Medal in 2014 by the President of India.
