President honours Allahabad DM Sanjay Kumar on World Disability day

Allahabad: President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday honoured Allahabad DM Sanjay Kumar on the occasion of World Disability Day for his commendable works for the welfare of the differently-abled people in his district.

Sanjay was conferred with the award at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi at an event event on November 3. This is the first time when an officer belonging to the Uttar Pradesh has been honoured at this event.

Allahabad district administration has been awarded the National Award for their continuous efforts for rehabilitation of differently-abled people of the district.

Significantly, the Allahabad DM, during the past one year, elected 6,500 differently-abled persons of the district and provided them with pensions, 3,000 tricycles, 40 motorised-tricycles and 500 sensor rods, on the basis of their disability. He also distributed hearing machines among those with partially impaired ears.

With the smart sensor roads, blind people can detect dangers such as animals, vehicles or pit holes from a significant distance of two meters.

In Varanasi also, 10,000 differently-abled people were elected and presented tricycles by the government in the past.
