Allahabad: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Monday ordered an inquiry in the suicide case that took place on Sunday last, after the police 'failed to act' against the man who had assaulted the girl.

Keshav Prasad Maurya stated, "We have ordered an inquiry into the incident. We will make sure that the justice is done."

It may be mentioned that, on Sunday last, the girl committed suicide at her house near Pipri Police Station in Kaushambi following the assault she faced by a youth.

The woman had also lodged a complaint but no action was taken by police against the accused.

The incident:

  • The man used to misbehave with the victim when she returned from her college.
  • After few days, she told the incident to her uncle after which they went to the accused's residence.
  • They had a major fight there.
  • Later, an FIR was lodged against her uncle for beating the accused.
  • As no action was taken by the police, the girl decided to hang herself and finish her life.
