Allahabad: Hitting back at Rishi Kapoor for speaking against naming of roadways, airports and railway stations after the Gandhi family in his recent tweets, Congress workers and supporters from Allahabad of Uttar Pradesh on Monday named a toilet after him.

“Naming of places after the Gandhi family is justified as they played a great role in the war of Independence. Moreover, somebody speaking against them should also acknowledge their contributions to the country’s growth,” said one of the party workers.

Highlights:

  • A public toilet at Shivaji Park in Ada Colony Nani locality of the Allahabad city was named after the noted Bollywood actor.
  • On may 17 last, Kapoor had taken to the micro blogging site Twitter to question the naming of important places after Gandhi family members.
  • Kapoor said such places should be named after Bollywood actors and sport heroes rather than politicians.
