Akhilesh Yadav's Vow Shattered: Swami Prasad Maurya Renews Controversial Assault on Hinduism

Lucknow: The promise made by Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav during the Brahmin Mahapanchayat on Sunday could not last even 24 hours. Despite Akhilesh Yadav's commitment in the Mahapanchayat to curb comments on religion and caste made by party leaders, senior leader Swami Prasad Maurya made controversial remarks on Hinduism during an event in Delhi on Monday.

Swami Prasad Maurya, who has previously made objectionable comments about Hinduism, reiterated his stance on Monday, stating that when he makes such remarks, people's sentiments get hurt. However, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat make similar statements, it does not hurt anyone's feelings. Despite the warning from SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav, it remains to be seen if any action will be taken against Maurya by the party leadership.

Betrayal of Hinduism Once Again

Swami Prasad Maurya, a leader of the Samajwadi Party, has been making objectionable comments about Hinduism, which has angered a section of SP leaders. Despite this, on Monday, he made controversial statements about Hinduism once again. He claimed that Hinduism is a deception. It is worth noting that the Supreme Court had stated in an order in 1995 that Hinduism is not a religion but a way of life for people. Maurya mentioned that even the chief of the largest religious organization, Mohan Bhagwat, has stated twice that Hinduism is not a religion but an art of living.

No Earthquake Over Bhagwat-Modi Statements

Speaking at the National Buddhist and Dalit Rights Conference organized under the banner of Mission Jai Bhim at Jantar Mantar, Swami Prasad Maurya said that what we commonly refer to as Hinduism is actually a business for some people. When we speak the truth and call it a business for some people, it causes an earthquake in the country. However, when Mohan Bhagwat, PM Modi, and Nitin Gadkari make similar statements, it does not stir emotions. But when I say that Hinduism is not a religion but a deception, it starts hurting people's sentiments.

Akhilesh Yadav's Advice Ineffective

Swami Prasad Maurya has made such comments before, but this time, they are gaining significance as Akhilesh Yadav had promised to put a stop to controversial statements on religion and religious texts by party leaders. During the Brahmin Mahapanchayat on Sunday, Akhilesh Yadav had vowed to take steps to prevent such comments. He advised all party leaders and workers not to make any comments on religion and caste. Now, with Maurya's controversial comments just a day after Akhilesh's warning, it remains to be seen if any action will be taken against him.

This is not the first time Akhilesh Yadav has urged party leaders to stay away from controversial statements related to religion or scriptures. However, the impact has been limited so far.
