Akhilesh Yadav detained in Lucknow after he sat on dharna to join UP farmers’ protest
Akhilesh Yadav was scheduled to go to Kannauj on Monday to participate in the Kisan Yatra. However, the Samajwadi Party office in Lucknow was turned into a virtual fortress.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has been detained after he sat on a dharna outside his residence in Lucknow for being prevented from attending the farmers’ protest in Kannauj on Monday.
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was scheduled to go to Kannauj on Monday to participate in the Kisan Yatra. However, the Samajwadi Party office in Lucknow was turned into a virtual fortress.
The BJP government put up massive barricades around the Samajwadi Party office till Akhilesh Yadav’s residence and no one was allowed to go out. Also, heavy police deployment was made at the area along with water cannons outside Akhilesh Yadav's residence.

Dharna:
After being stopped from joining the farmers’ protest, Akhilesh Yadav sat on a dharna outside his residence from where he was detained. Akhilesh Yadav is now being sent to Eco Garden where he will be kept under custody.

As police stopped Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi Party workers from joining the protest. He said, “Our workers have protested at several locations. They can put us in jail if they want. They've stopped our vehicles. We'll walk.”

Samajwadi Party MLCs Rajpal Kashyap and Aashu Malik were taken into custody while they were trying to visit the party office at Vikramaditya Marg.
