Will marry only after developing my constituency: 25-year-old Vandana

Agra: Independent candidate from Fatehpur Sikri assembly seat in Agra, Vandana Sharma, a graduation first-year student, has pledged that she will marry only after developing her constituency.

Vandana said that in her opposition were not only the candidates from various parties but also her only family members who were initially against her entry in politics.

The 25-year-old graduation student said that she took the decision of contesting the elections after an influential candidate from her village won the Pradhani election with his power and money.

Interestingly, Vandana takes a visit of her constituency on her scooty and meets the people to get aware of their issues. On one hand, when her counter candidates are spending lakhs of rupees on election campaigns, she has till date just spent Rs 30,000 that she piled up from her savings.

Her family members, however, have assured to provide her financial support for her poll campaign but Vandana chose not to accept monetary assistance from the family.

She is contesting on 'Coconut' elections symbol while her constituency, Fatehpur Sikri will go for polls in the first phase of Uttar Pradesh elections on February 11.
