Trump accuses Hillary Clinton of exploiting her gender to win

Washington: Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Thursday accused Democrat Hillary Clinton of exploiting her gender to win votes.

She would have got little support if she were not a woman, said Trump.

Clinton has in her political career at times benefitted from wrong move made by male candidates. Her 2000 US Senate rival, New York Republican Rick Lazio, came off as a bully when he stepped close to her on stage during a debate asking her to sign a pledge.

Earlier, in her first presidential campaign in 2008, Clinton accused her male opponents of "piling on" and said that it would prompt more women to support her.
