Transgender delegation presses for murderers arrest

Islamabad (Pakistan): A delegation of transgenders met a senior police officer, on Friday, in order to get assurance to arrest the culprit in the murder of the Alisha, a transgender activist of Pakthukhwa province in Peshawar, Pakistan.

Alisha was shot eight times earlier this week and she succumbed to her wounds in a hospital here on Wednesday.

What the delegation alleges:

  • The transgender delegation claimed that at least 46 transgenders have been killed in the last two years in Peshawar.
  • The delegation also stated that no probe had been made in the murder of Alisha and other members of their community despite continuous plea.

What police said:

Peshawar police has assured a probe in the case and said, two culprits have already been arrested and further search is on.

Who was Alisha:

Alesha was the Peshawar Coordinator of the Trans Action Alliance, a group which works for the promotion and protection of the rights of the transgender community in the Peshawar.
