Saudi Arabia makes marriage certificate to the bride mandatory

Riyadh: In a historic order, the Saudi Arabia ministry of law and justice has made issuance of marriage certificate to the bride mandatory, a practice not in vogue in the country so far. The order is aimed at empowering women in the country.

“From now onwards, a copy of the marriage-certificate will also be given to the bride to protect her rights,” said a statement issued by the ministry.
