Reliance Jio may introduce 4G VoLTE feature phone at Rs 500

Mumbai: Reliance Jio has once again planned to create chaos in the country, but this time through its much-awaited 4G VoLTE feature phone. According to the recent media reports, the phone is expected to be priced at just Rs 500.

It is being said that the company will announce the phone at the Reliance Industries' annual general meeting on July 21.

The media reports further claimed that the phone will be subsidized by as much as $10-15 and the company has reportedly ordered 18-20 million units for the handsets with Chinese vendors such as Zhejiang Techain Electronics Technology Co., Shenzhen CHINO-E Communication Co, Crave and Megaphone.

The shipment of the units is expected to begin from month-end or early August, with a possible launch for August 15.

Jio is also expected to launch a fresh tariff plan priced anywhere between Rs 80 to Rs 90.

  • 4 inch display
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 4GB Internal Storage
  • microSD Card Support
  • It will come in two variants, first with a Qualcomm processor and the other with a Spreadtrum chip
  • 2MP rear camera and a VGA front camera
  • Wi-Fi, GPS and NFC
