Peacocks don’t have sex, claims Rajasthan Judge; Twitter goes crazy

New Delhi: A Rajasthan High Court judge, who suggested declaring cow as national animal, on Wednesday stated 'peacocks don’t have sex'.

The bizarre remark, made by Justice Mahesh Chandra Sharma, drew lots of attention on social platforms and kept the users hooked for hours.

Recommending India's national animal status to cow, he compared the animal to the national bird, peacock, describing both of them as 'pious'.

To explain the piousness of the peacocks, the Rajasthan HC judge said, "The peacock is a lifelong brahmachari (celibate). It never has sex with the peahen. The peahen gets pregnant after swallowing the tears of the peacock."

People on social media posted videos and pointed out that they do mate.

The judge also claimed that the peacock is celibate and that is the reason why it was worn by Lord Krishna.

Twitter users talked so much about his comment that soon #brahmacharipeacock and #sanskaaripeacock started trending on the micro-blogging website.
