Netizens overwhelmingly back present RBI governor

Lucknow: Reserve Bank Of India governor Raghuram Rajan who has been a recent target of attack by new BJP Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy has now got support from a new quarters – netizens.

In an appeal on the net on Tuesday, users were urged to sign in support of Rajan whose removal has been demanded by Swamy. As many as 37,ooo of them responded, indicating that whatever the BJP leader might say ,Rajan has got massive support of young men and women who are largely net-friendly.

Swamy, a bitter critic of Rajan , has even gone to the extent of writing a letter to the Prime demanding action against him. Either he should be removed or his term which expires in September should not be extended, he has pleaded.

His grievance is that by not lowering the interest rate, he has caused harm to industries, which may be suitable for other countries, but certainly not for India.

The netizens do not seem to believe him. Perhaps ,his measures to curb inflation and stabilise the rupee have gone down well with them.
